Welcome to the Mueller College website. If you are looking for a friendly, caring school that emphasizes distinctive Christian values together with high quality instruction and support by a team of committed teachers … then this may be your school!
In fifteen years I have consistently been amazed by the achievements of our students in every facet of education. With about 1100 students from prep to year 12 there is an incredible ‘family’ feel, and the curriculum is continuously being developed to allow a smooth flow through primary (year1-6), middle school (year 7-9) and finally into senior secondary (year 10-12).
All of our teachers are committed Christians who are dedicated to going the extra mile for students, to help them reach their God-given potential. Teaching occurs in modern, spacious classrooms and specialized areas. Class sizes are generally kept to 25 in years 1-3 and in years 11-12, while classes of 30 are generally employed in years 4-10. Depending on student choice of elective subjects in years 9-12, some classes are much smaller than those stated.
To enable our student body to appreciate the full range of student abilities within the school, we have classes and special programs to cater for gifted and talented students, those with learning difficulties, as well as those with physical limitations. Our Learning Support Centre is well-equipped in resources to deliver these programs, while the Vocational Education Centre provides wonderful opportunities for students to begin traineeships, apprenticeships or a range of vocational training programs. Some students are involved in tertiary studies whilst completing their senior studies.
Our facilities are continually expanding and improving to reflect the professional and progressive nature of education at Mueller College . Some of our more unique facilities include a Rock Climbing Wall, Separate Primary and Secondary Ovals, Shared specialist teaching areas between Primary and Secondary (eg Art, Science, Music, Home Economics, Industrial Technology, Computer Labs etc), a developing exchange program with schools in China, as well as overseas and Australian mission trips.
We offer a broad curriculum with students generally studying a set, broad range of subjects through to the end of year 8, after which students select from a list of around 20 subjects for years 9 and 10. The diversity of offerings for the senior years is enormous with around 30 Authority Subjects (which lead to an OP score), a range of Authority Registered Subjects together with an ever-increasing number of Training modules and subjects for those wishing to pursue traineeships and apprenticeships.
Sport is also promoted within the school and we are involved in the local inter-school competition where we are more than competitive in most sports, boasting some State and National representatives over the years. We are also involved in the State Christian Schools Sporting competitions where we have some national and State champions and record holders.
Music is an area of great interest and growth with several orchestras and bands, as well as junior and senior choirs. Our success in eisteddfods over the years has been most encouraging. Recently our school orchestra and choir had the opportunity to perform with international schools at the Sydney Opera House. This opportunity reflects the high quality of Mueller College’s Music teachers and program. Students also use their gift and ability within our school and church community in weekly Chapel services, regular School Church Services within Redcliffe Christian Assembly, the overseeing church, and for community groups such as the adjoining Peninsula Palms Retirement Village .
There are a total of 98 teaching staff in Primary, Middle and Secondary Schools. Eleven staff have teaching qualifications from an accredited higher education authority. Forty-two have graduate teaching qualifications from an accredited higher education authority. Forty-five staff have post graduate teaching qualifications from an accredited higher education authority.
Professional Development has been attended for an average of 3.7 days per teacher for the year, at an average cost of $328.07 per staff member for Professional Development.
We have excellent behaviour management policies that attract more students than we can handle … because these policies work … and our students enjoy being in an environment that is safe, happy and secure.
Student Leaders are elected from year 6 and are continuously trained and given responsibilities of leadership within the school. This has resulted in a positive development of our Christian culture through their modeling and leadership. The enrolment of mature age and overseas students has also had a positive influence on students.
Why not come and visit in person? We would love to show you around – you will be staggered at the quality of our facilities, the construction of our new Auditorium/performing Arts complex, and be awed by what God has provided over the years.
