Mr. Roland Heazlewood
This year has been one full of surprises with the Federal Government Grants for capital expenditure which will result in some wonderful new facilities for our school. Because of the tight timeframe on the construction of the new buildings it has caused considerable disruptions to our normal day to day operations.
However, by April 2010, we hope to have access to some wonderful new facilities that will service Mueller College for many years to come. With access into our new Performing Arts Centre occurring early this year we have been able to host events such as the highly successful home-grown musical “The Poet’s Circus” and the inaugural Christian Community Ministries Conference with more than 500 participants from our Queensland network of Christian Schools.
Already MPAC is becoming a centre for music excellence as demonstrated in the recent Mueller International Chamber Orchestra with exceptional talent from Sydney, the UK and the greater Brisbane area. Year 7 Mueller College student, Jasmine Jin, won five trophies and a medal including first place in the Junior Strings championship in the Brisbane Piano and Instrumental Eisteddfod.
In other areas of achievement, Justin Smith (Year 10) obtained 100% in the Rio Tinto National Science Competition and will receive a special award in Canberra later this year. Emily Schmidt and Hellen Haseloff (Year 11 students) won gold medals for swimming in the international Global Games in the Czech Republic and Ashley Stoddart was sixth overall in the Under 19 World Sailing Competition in Brazil. Ashley, who is only 16, shows exceptional talent for her age and no doubt will achieve some remarkable results in the Under 19 years event during the next couple of years.
After spending the last seventeen years as Principal of Primary School at Mueller College, Miss Agnes Kielley is passing on the baton to Mr Paul Valese. Agnes has taught in Queensland schools for more than forty years, having spent many of those years as Principal of various Queensland State Schools, attaining the position of Supervisor of Studies for the Darling Downs Region before accepting the position at Mueller College in 1992.
Miss Kielly is well recognised as a leader with professional educational expertise, through curriculum knowledge and the ability to direct purposefully with particular personal strength and warmth.
However, Agnes is not yet retiring completely from education. She will be continuing at Mueller College in a part-time consultancy role, overseeing curriculum delivery, particularly in Upper Primary and Middle School as well as staff development and accreditation requirements.
Miss Kielly’s contribution to the educational program at Mueller College has been enormous and we wish her well as she phases slowly into a well-earned semi-retirement.

Christian Community Ministries Conference, June 2009
On behalf of the directors of Mueller College, I would like to thank the staff and students for another successful year in the life of Mueller College and we really appreciate the support of the whole community in our College’s program.
